Back in march I posted about the power of prayer and my night out with Mikey shooting pool. I just wanted to share a quick update.
It’s now been a little over 6 months since Mikey was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Back then he argued with the doctors that this was something he could beat. In Mikey’s heart “God has something bigger planned for me” was ringing loud and clear. He pushed the doctors to being an aggressive treatment of chemo and radiation, something the doctors felt was pointless. And it’s been a tough road. I’m sure there were days that Mikey thought giving up and dieing was a lot easier, something anyone that has traveled this road will agree. Chemo is brutal on the body and mixing that at the same time as radiation has got to push you right to the edge.
This past Sunday, Mikey returned to the worship team. Drumming with an energy that blew my mind. This is a guy who wasn’t supposed to make it to Easter let alone Father’s day. And yet here we are just a few days away from July and Mikey is back to doing the thing he loves, playing music and worshiping God.
To me this is a power message. There are so many things to take away from this. The power of prayer can not be dismissed here. Does God have something bigger planner? In my mind there is no doubt of that. There is a story to be shared here and I hope this summer to spend some time with Mikey, get some video put together and share it with the world.
For those of you that have been praying for Mikey and his young family, thank-you! Please continue to pray as this journey is not over yet, but with the love of God’s people and the faith to believe, I know Mikey is going to come out the other side of this. God does have something bigger planned and I know in my heart that it’s going to be amazing.
